Press and Progress

By SOPHIA LACAVA-BOHANAN

The posting of this blog marks nine weeks until John Whipple Potter Jenks’ 195th birthday. And, not coincidentally, the day we plan to quietly celebrate in the (hopefully-completed) Jenks Society exhibition in Rhode Island Hall. With nine weeks of work left and plenty to accomplish, momentum is rapidly gaining and enthusiasm for the project is contagious.

As we continue the process of unearthing new facts, reinterpreting old knowledge, and collectively building towards the exhibition, it is with pleasure that we share with you our first press coverage! This past Sunday, the work being completed by the Jenks Society was featured in the Providence Journal. The article provides terrific context for the project and a peek at Jenks’ life (and death) at Brown University. To read the full article click here.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks to learn more about our progress, upcoming events, and the opening celebration in May! Oh, and tales of intrigue will of course continue to be shared.
